Since the 1980s Ray has toured actively, and today he travels the world: “I love performing live, it’s let me meet so many wonderful people my music has brought into my life.”

Ray Brown recorded his debut album, Slow Down for Love, named one of the best jazz albums of 2001. Ray Brown is a superb vocalist, a great artist and a wonderful storyteller. As Ray puts it: “My philosophy about performing is, first, make the audience feel better than when they arrived, and a mix of Frank Sinatra’s philosophy and my dad’s: make every performance like it’s your last, and never do anything halfway.”

In his singing of the blues you can feel the breath of Ella, and between songs you’ll hear short stories about the great singer and her entourage, first-hand, as they say. Ray recently celebrated his 70th birthday. But a true jazz musician is like a fine wine: the older, the more valuable. As Ray Brown himself put it: “Life only really begins after 70!”
