The Sunline

“The Sunline” is a charged dialogue between two people about true intimacy: sharp-witted, ironic, and revealing the many mechanisms that, since the dawn of time, have kept men and women from truly seeing and hearing one another.

The married couple are played by two hugely popular actors and TV personalities, stars of Russia’s leading female comedy show Comedy Woman: the beloved Natalia Eprikyan and Alexander Gudkov.

The production is directed by six-time Golden Mask Award winner Roman Feodori, with a script by Ivan Vyrypaev.

A husband and wife find themselves trapped in their own home until morning, searching for a way out of a marriage in crisis. Long since disconnected from one another, only an honest conversation, one that upends their familiar roles and assumptions about married life, can give their relationship new momentum and help them cross the sunline that symbolically divides the space between them. What begins as a simple story about marriage grows into a conversation about one of today’s most urgent questions: how living beings on this planet communicate with one another.

Vyrypaev’s writing is memorable for the rhythm of its monologues and dialogues, its self-irony, and its sharp, tragic turns, much like life itself, where fear and bitterness sit alongside joy and laughter.
